Why is it important to develop positive relationships with the child and thier parent at a childcare setting?

Tons of reasons. It's important to maintain regular commuication with the parents so the care giver and the parent can work together in the child's best interest. If the parent doesn't feel like they can communicate with the teacher, or if the teacher does not communicate with the parents, the parent is not going to trust the caregiver, and they are not going to get important messages about their child.

It is important to recognise that parents are the main educators of their children, and they know them the best. When we build positive relationships with both the children and their parents, it helps to build trust and 2 way communication. This ensures Information can be shared freely, and positively. It helps parents trust and respect practitioners, and in return, we gain invaluable information which helps us plan for individual children and their needs.
