What legal action can be taken to find a parent who has custody of a child? They have disappeared & the other-?

parent wants to find them so they can at least excerise their visitation rights. This is a really good person who has been done wrong %26amp; wants to see their child. They were given visitation rights by the court but the parent that got custody just up %26amp; left %26amp; noone knows where or what to do legaly. What legal action can be taken to find a parent who has custody of a child? They have disappeared %26amp; the other-?
Sorry to say that in civil instances, the courts are frequently toothless. You'd need to get a private investigator, at your cost, to find the missing parent, and even then, they can't be compelled to move back into the state they left, which is presumably the state that made the custody determination. So often it depends on good will, and there's little of that to go around in a divorce case.
