That is natural for a first time mom. I have had 6 and believe me, you calm down as your child grows up or you have more children.
A lot of first time mothers are terrified of everything out there harming their baby. That is a natural maternal instincts that even most animals are guilty of. It most likely comes from all the bad things that happen to infants/children nowadays.
You see in the news everyday that there are children being kidnapped, raped, tortured, abused in every sense of the word, etc. You can never be too careful, but remember, infants can bounce back from things and are not as fragile as some may think. Be careful and your child will be fine. How did I get to be a panicky parent? Is anyone else a panicky mom?
I found some information online and according to the research ';Fifteen percent to 20 percent of new mothers suffer from postpartum depression, which includes symptoms of persistent exhaustion, hopelessness, anxiety and teariness that strike just after giving birth.'; You may actually be experiencing post traumatic stress disorder. On top of it all, lack of sleep can lead to depression and anxiety.
OR, possibly you are just extra concerned about your child because you LOVE him or her.
If your behavior has changed to the point where you can't handle it or it interferes with your everyday life, I would go to your doctor. Your Doc will be able to advise you on your options. You might consider medication to get you through this difficult and stressful time!
Well, I dont have kids, but im pretty sure that he wont die of SIDS and probably wont be slow, he may get hurt when hes a toddler (cuz they like to explore) but just some little boo-boos, and yes, he will get sick, but thats why theres doctors.... Dont be such a worry wart! And even if he is a little slow (which he isnt) you'll live through it! My mom was like that with my lil brother too! Im sure many other new moms are like that, its pretty normal. Chill, and good luck....
