Are there legal consequences to a parent who does not force their 16 yr old child to go to school in NY?

I know someone who does not make their kid go to school, lets them stay home and do whatever he/she wants to do. And continues life like it is no big deal. This child still gets rewarded with doing things after school with their friends, drive around, do whatever they want. Is there any legal action anyone can take against this child or parent? Are there legal consequences to a parent who does not force their 16 yr old child to go to school in NY?
Most states set the legal drop out age at 16. Give me a sec and I'll see if New York is one of them.

New York Education Code 搂 3205 says 16. It does go on to say however, districts can set policy to require a sixteen year old to attend school if they are not employed. At 17, there are no restrictions whatsoever.

So, no, there is no legal action you can take against the teen or the parent. Of course, if they're committing crimes against you, you can take action in regard to those specific violations. Are there legal consequences to a parent who does not force their 16 yr old child to go to school in NY?
no because at 16 school is a choice

kids can drop out

My daughter is missing alot this yr

She still maintains good grades

she doesnt want to drop out

but she doesnt seem to mind repeating a yr either

She likes school

She is just lazy sometimes and chosing to stay home

she still goes to work at night ..only after King of Queens is over though
idk but when i didn't go the school sent a Turin officer to my house. but i don't think so because my aunt never made my cousin go and they just did the same thing to i that they did to me.
Not in NY there aren't. At 16 a child can chose to just stop going if they want to. It's not a good idea, but they don't even need parental consent to drop out.
