Many state have the law you are referring to. Many don't. Most require parental notification. Many have avoidance clauses that let the minor girl go to a judge is she fears for her safety. (abusive parent). So, the question varies by state. I personally think is is the young girls choice.

I think it's ridiculous, it goes against the whole point of it being the woman's choice over her own body if her parents can force her to go through a pregnancy against her will (or force her into an abortion, which would be harder but definitely possible).

well i think in most states they dont need permission. but notification is good because.. 1. it's major surgery usually performed quickly on someone who knows little about the risks or their body and can come home and bleed to death 2. usually minors needing abortions were made pregnant/ brought to the clinic by their adult statuatory rapists in an attempt to cover what they're doing to a minor.
because a child does not have the legal right to murder its own child. and not to mention depending on how old the child is, they may not be mature enough to make a good decision and end up regreting what they choose, which could result in depression, anger, substance abuse, and life long guilt.
It is idiotic...what if the father is raping his own daughter...what happens then? If one is old enough for sex, they are old enough for its consequences. This stupid parental permission to have an abortion is going to endanger our young women of having to get illegal back alley abortions...it is STUPID...a huge step in the wrong direction...if you are against abortion DON';T HAVE ONE but don't tell me what to do with my body...closed minded ignorance is what that is!

In California, a teen girl does not need a parents permission to have an abortion. It is the same in many states.
